The iLX-F903D is also equipped with an HDMI input to connect the optional Alpine DVDplayer DVE-5300 or any other portable media player with HDMI output. Im know the origional wiring has been altered to suit the old radio, so i am sure it is not an origional unit. The 2nd generation Alpine Halo9 features a high-res display, Wireless Apple CarPlay, two USB ports, further improved sound quality and tuning options and many more innovations and improvements. Looking at the manual there should be a yellow, red and black that are not connected to anything and they're for an external DVD or tv tuner.
The alpine navigator ILX-F903D also supports Radio Data System (RDS) and can receive radio signals from DAB+, FM, LW, and MW radio bands.

Start at the begining, I have had my Honda 2 years, the radio is very poor, the DAB is also poor ( Rural Herefordshire - very little reception), and the steering wheel putton for the phone hand free has never worked ( I assume this was disconnedted somewhere - maybe its a fuse out? I recently installed the "free floating screen"-style aftermarket "Halo 9" radio from Alpine (ilx-F903d) and I thought I should share some pics from the installation.
I wanted a Carplay and Android Auto enabled radio for the GTI but always felt that the 2-din screens were never bigger than my phone enough to justify the cost.
The black cable end is a bullet connector (I think that's the name of the connector type) and whilst it is designed to be fit into the type of connector on the end of the yellow wire I would 100% check the manual as it's generally same colour to same colour when making connections, although there are always exceptions. Featuring a built-in 9-inch LCD display with touchscreen capabilities, this alpine navigator provides an intuitive interface for easy navigation.
As you can see the installation uses only a 1-din slot, which leaves the space underneath free for a storage cubby. All was working fine, but the dangling USB cable going into the dash niggled me somewhat, so I bought a USB3 face-fixed socket.
This product includes either an HDMi input and/or output for transmitting uncompressed digital video and audio data. DAB+ also offers many other advantages over traditional FM radio: choose from a much wider range of radio stations and after the initial station scan easily select your desired channels from an alphabetic or genre list of available stations. Whilst driving receive spoken directions and clear easy to see visuals on screen when you have your phone connected and maps selected. If you are a long time veteran, feel free to use this as a form to discuss with other like minded enthusiasts. Combined with the touch-responsive hard-keys on the bottom it makes the units stunningly beautiful and very modern in function and appearance.
